our beliefs

At Brookside. we believe strongly in community—building relationships with God and with each other. We seek to honor and glorify God in all that we do and strive to be a church where people come to encounter God and grow in their relationship with Him. We are committed to an intentional and purpose-driven approach to ministry as we provide opportunities for individuals to take the next step in their spiritual journey.

We also believe that our purpose is to bring glory to God by being faithful to the task of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Therefore, our mission as a church is to lead people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to develop them into fully-committed, reproducing followers of Him. In order to accomplish this mission we intend, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to be intentional and creative in the way we minister to our community.

At Brookside, we hold to three main documents that we call our Core Values, Statement of Faith, and Our Vision. For more details, simply click on the bar below.

Our Core Values (click to view)

A Commitment to Relevant Bible Teaching

We believe that a commitment to teaching God’s Word is an essential part in transforming the life of the believer and the church (2 Timothy 3:16; 4:2).

A Commitment to Godly Leadership

We believe that the key to successfully fulfilling God’s mission for our church is having staff and lay leaders who are committed to integrity and holiness (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).

A Commitment to Worship

We believe that inspiring worship is an essential part of the Christian experience and a powerful dynamic in drawing a seeker into a relationship with God (Psalm 29; 95).

A Commitment to Discipleship

We believe that the mission of the church is to make disciples. We also believe that the development of disciples is a life-long process that begins with salvation and is nurtured by intentionality, training, and community (Matthew 28:18-20; Hebrews 10:24-25).

A Commitment to Cross-Cultural Missions

We believe that the local church should be committed to reaching our world through the spreading of the Gospel (Acts 1:8).

A Commitment to Prayer

We believe that prayer is an essential ingredient in creating a healthy church. Thus, we intend to have every ministry and activity characterized by a dependence on God and to provide opportunities for believers to grow in their prayer life (John 15:7; Acts 1:14).

A Commitment to Growth

We believe that conversion growth is the essential element in the life of a healthy and productive church. Thus, we intend to create structures that will encourage growth as well as provide opportunities for believers to become more effective in evangelism (Acts 2:47; 4:4; 6:7).

A Commitment to Community

We believe that God desires His church to experience community. Thus, we intend to provide opportunities for people to know and to be known, to love and to be loved, to care and to be cared for, to serve and to be served, so that everyone might experience the power of true friendship (Acts 2:42-47).

Our Statement of Faith (click to view)
  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God. It is God-breathed, and therefore, without error in the original documents. The Bible is to be the Christian’s guide in all matters of faith and practice.

  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (II Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 2:18).

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His return in power and glory (Matthew 1:20-23; I Corinthians 15:1-7; Acts 1:10-11; I Thessalonians 4:14-18).

  • We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God (I Peter 1:18-19; Acts 4:12; John 1:12, Ephesians 2:4-5).

  • We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for the salvation of lost and sinful man (Titus 3:4-7; 1 Corinthians 12:13).

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is able to live a godly life (John 16:7-14; Galatians 5:16-26).

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to the resurrection of life, the lost to the resurrection of damnation (Daniel 12:1-2; Revelation 20:11-15).

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 12:4-5; John 17:21-23).

  • We believe in the local church, her witness to the whole world, the appropriate use of spiritual gifts, and the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper (Matthew 28:19-20; I Corinthians 12-14; Romans 6:4; I Corinthians 11:25-29).
